Domain names are a human friendly version of a website address. Without a Domain
name, you would be stuck with a load of numbers. Not great for marketing
purposes!
So we use Domain names to identify sites. When choosing your Domain name you
should select a term people will use to search for your site. Most obviously,
this could be your brand or personal name. Think about how you search on Google
yourself.
Long names are hard to remember.
If your business caters to a specific geographical area consider using that in the domain name registration.
Make your name memorable to your customers and help you rank better in search engines.
If it's a tongue twister, it might not be the best web address for your site. Keep it easy to pronounce.
If you have drjones.com, you might want to buy doctorjones.com, too. How would you feel if someone else bought it?
Protect your brand by registering the .com, .net, and .org versions of the domain name.
